Saftest and Most dangerous places to live

As you know, part of the mission of this blog is to find a place to settle down. I've been bouncing around this great country my whole life, and I've been trying to use geography to help my financials and my social life( having family around). Here's another article on that.

The rankings look at the rate for six crime categories: Murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and auto theft. It compares 350 cities with populations of 75,000 or more that reported crime data to the FBI. Final 2003 statistics, released by the FBI in October, were used to determine the rankings.

ea_spouse -- Programming maddness

Man, this sounds familiar. This is going to make me think twice about buying EA Games, thats for sure. The link below is an anonymous letter from a spouse of an EA Game programmer. Part of the studliness of being a game programmer ( or any programmer) is that you can stay up all night, code for weeks without any sleep. But I've never believed it. I think its poor management. This kind of management is unwise, since it is axiomatic that killing your employees is bad for your business. They don't watch in an unionization could happen overnight, killing the industry even faster.

Get a clue EA, you evil, corporate slave-drivers. Only the least human among us can make such a fun thing as game development torture.

W is FOR WINNER!

Well kids, wasn't that fun!!! W has pulled it off, withstanding the greatest attack
launched on any politican in the history of politics. I'll go over that some other time.
This was much better than 2000, even the dems behaved themselves( so far).

This country is moving right, and thats a good thing. I know
the dangers of moving right ( overzealous moral legislation, etc). Most of that is
brought on by the strong-arm tactics of the left, trying legislation via the courts.
People will not stand for it.

As long as we keep a handle on the fundamentalist right, (they do not
represent the whole, as the failure of many of their candidates show),
we can slowly steer this country in a more sound direction.

The move right is glacial, and it can happen in a two party system.
For example, many people note that JFK today would be
considered a reasonably conservative republican, sans morality.
Both parties moved left from say 1950 to 1980. Then, as things
reached a pinacle of badness under Carter, we started moving back,
with minor course corrections ( even clinton signed welfare reform).
We can't start educated people on Libertarian and Austrian ideals when
the left is running this place. Libertarians and such can affect the
GOP from within, and move the party both fiscally and environmentally.
I think the NRA hunters and such love the environment as much as East
Coast Liberals, probably more.

I hope that within 20 years, the GOP is really where the Libertarians
are today, at least fiscally, and Democrats have taken what liberal
republicans are holding today. The labels will stay the same, and
under the 2 party system it will still run the show, but change
occured anyway. Counterintuitively, the platform moves under the
party. The dems approach socialism and hedonism....while that could be
fun, it doesn't represent American. Thats their problem.

Another nice possiblity is that the left splits in two and the right
split in two. Four party system. That would be more interesting, and
alotmore like what other nations have. Labor, Conservative, Liberal ,
Socialist. Not fewer labels, but more.

What is nice about this election is who lost it. This election, in a
nice way, was a spit in Old Europes face. The mtv crowd lost, the
elite media lost,Theresa Heinz Kerry lost, Dan Rather lost, OBL lost,
the fringe crazy Soros crowd(get that guy some paxil!), with his billions, lost, and we didn't
get a trial lawyer a heart beat away from the presidency. Who knows
what he would have appointed to his cabinet!

Breath easy friends, it is a good day. A great evil was avoided, and
the Titanic is moving away from the iceberg.

Now we have to stay on GWB's case BIG TIME! With a commanding lead in government
it is our turn to SHINE!

James S. Robbins on Osama bin Laden on National Review Online

Well, Osama clearly wants Bush out of office. So, shouldn't we want Bush in office? OBL's speech sounded exactly like a democrat going for office. Remember, no matter how reasonable OBL sounds, Muslims like this are not known for their peaceful ways. Check out this to see most of the world unrest is due to Islamo-facisim. This man is going to blame the US for Israel's actions, for our social standing in the world, for our economy. In his speech, OBL said he wants our destruction, like he's always wanted.

Don't make this guy out to be anything other than what he is....a devious maniac.

Election Eve!

http://www.electionprojection.com/elections

http://www.electoral-vote.com/

Two different websites, two different predictions. No one knows whats going to happen. Rush Limbaugh says no one ever thinks their team is going to win since we tend to believe the negative. So chin up all!

Here's my thinking. Florida & Ohio, Pennsylvania. Those three places choose the next prez. Who ever takes two of them at least takes the White House. Bush should take Florida, Kerry probably Penn. Ohio has had a miserable economy, but I think the Bin Laden tape, where he threatens us if we vote for Bush, should tip the proud state of Ohio over to Bush, that is if the liberal media report the issue.

If Jersey starts tilting Bush again, that news will roll momentum in Bushies favor. If conservatives stay home, since Bush isn't their favorite guy, we're doomed. If Nader fails to get 1 or 2 percent in Florida, we're in trouble too. News of the winners of the east coast states will rush across the country and impact places like HI, Colorodo, and New Mexico. Whoever wins out East will depress the opposition in those places, so I don't think there will be a big legal battle like in 2000.

My only wish is that George would have been more conservative. He lost a lot of the support of Libertarians and economic conservatives, and , like the Dems' Nader, if GOP loses 2 percent it loses the country.

I take all of this as good news. Elections have never been more popular, as when I grew up all big media talked about how boring the election days were, and infamously low voter turn out. Now we don't have that problem. Lets just hope the lawyers don't have anything to do Wednesday, either way this goes. If, God forbid, Kerry wins, I'll be very interested to see how Bin Laden reacts. I'm sure they will be cheering in the socialist Europe, and on the Muslim street. Then in a few years, after Al Queda rebuilds, we'll see what happens. By that time Kerry will have spent all our money on health care, the top tax rate will be over 50%, and the government will be the Nanny State. All your needs taken care of, cradle to grave.

If Bush wins, I expect even more exciting stuff to come out of the War. Freed of political baggage, I expect new offensives in Iraq, and with a new verdict from the American people, a stiff resolve to fix this Middle East mess once and for all. I expect spending to be curbed, again since he doesn't need the votes, and I even think France and Germany will cave and congratulate the newest 2-term president. Arafat will probably kick off, which is good, and we'll catch OBL finally.

Here is the list of two-term presidents:
George Washington: 1789, 1792
Thomas Jefferson: 1800, 1804
James Madison: 1808, 1812
James Monroe: 1816, 1920
Andrew Jackson: 1828, 1832
Abraham Lincoln: 1860, 1864
Ulysses Grant: 1868, 1872
Grover Cleveland: 1884, 1892
William McKinley: 1896, 1900
Woodrow Wilson: 1912, 1916
Dwight Eisenhower: 1952, 1956
Richard Nixon: 1968, 1972
Ronald Reagan: 1980, 1984
Bill Clinton: 1992, 1996
This is, with a few exceptions, a pretty noble list of men, representing only 25% of the men who served the office.

Did Bush do well enough to be included with Ronald Reagan and Abe Lincoln? Initial blush would be no, but recall that Abe Lincoln's war was hotly contested at the time, and more Americans died in the civil war than any other war. Was it a failure? Only the most strict constitutionalists would say Abe Lincoln was bad for the country. Hard times makes people ancy for change, I'm sure that is what drives much of the Dems these days.

Kerry will do what Liberals do in office. Spend money, make friends abroad, spend more money. Will the world like us again? Will they ask us to the Prom??

We can't dance if we're not standing. Go W!
