USS Kirk ~ FF1087

I have not told this blog that this is the ship that I spent 4 great years of my life. I call them great, of course, through the rosey glasses of time. Yet, even over a decade later I still dream of this ship, of the Pacfic ocean waves rolling black under its bow during nights that who's only light was the moon, stars, and lichen under the sea. The ports this ship took me too, the things I learned. It was as if this boat was my surrogate mother, bringing me to the world, and the world to me. Is it any wonder people associate around this giant hunk of metal? USS Kirk

I was a CIWS tech, an electronics geek who fixed the Phalanx weapons system. If you don't know what that is, think R2-D2 with a 20 mm gattling gun shooting depleted uranium rounds at 3000 rounds per minute. :)

The worst shame of it is, I cannot visit this place of my youth but in my dreams. The US government sold our beloved vessel to a foreign government, which is better, I suppose, than complete mothballs. Thanks to the guy who's doing the website. Great job!

Table of Contents - John Taylor Gatto

Paydirt. This site is an expose about public education ( he'd say indocrtrination) done by an ex-teacher John Taylor Gatto. When I read stuff like this I wonder how anyone could put their kids in public schools at all today. The dirty secret? Most of the intelligensia does not. Table of Contents - John Taylor Gatto

MSN Money - Why we're not having enough babies

You may recall in school the shrill screaming of teachers, politicians and liberals everywhere that the world population is booming, and soon we'll be living nutt to butt, and water will be scarce, and the world will be overrun with humans. Stop having babies they cried! Its selfish to have children! Adopt instead!
Go punch the person who taught you that lie, and read this:

boogle.com - google search engine with quotes: "Nothing average ever stood as a monument to progress. When progress is looking for a partner it doesn't turn to those who believe they are only average. It turns instead to those who are forever searching and striving to become the best they possibly can. If we seek the average level we cannot hope to achieve a high level of success. Our only hope is to avoid being a failure.
