Now I live in NY. I've moved for the chance to be around family, to be around old friends, and to enjoy the perrenially good NY economy.
Will we stay? Who knows? The property here is incredibly expensive, and I have a longing for Seattle again, for the way things were. We shall see. I am having a good time, and so is my family, getting to know my kids and wife. Its been nearly 20 years since I've spent any real time on LI, so lets see if i can adapt to the humidity, bugs, and higher costs and taxes.
I am happy that despite the fear that accompanies any move, I was able to say yes to this. Do not take consul from your fears.
This opportunity has given me great need to analyze life with new questions. How important
is location in the equation of human happiness? How important is the size of the house, location to family, proximity to good colleges?
Despite family being around you still have to create your own life. What is the magnitude of difference between family and friends?
How much can you miss a place?
